The palaces of Spain and Portugal. now converted to hotel accommodation, are stately houses which were the official residences of kings or noble familes. They were built to compliment the typical architectural style of the region.

They had a fine decoration, luxurious fittings and refined furniture in their ample and elegant rooms.
Some are now high quality hotels with the traditional decor of the period being retained to make the guest experience the atmosphere of the period
