Portugal

Portugal is situated in the western end of Europe and includes the islands of Madeira and Porto Santo and the archipelago of The Azores. Portugal has an area of 88.889 square kilometres, has 832 kms of coastline and a border with Spain. of 1215 kms. The country's main airports are Aeroporto da Portela in Lisbon; Aeroporto Dr. Francisco Sa Carneiro in Porto; Aeroporto Faro in Faro (Algarve); Aeroporto do Funchal in Funchal (Madeira); Aeroporto Joao Paulo II in Ponta Delgada (Azores). Portuguese regions have a very defined personality evidence of the country's variety: Porto and North Portugal; Beiras; Lisbon; Alentejo; Algarve; Azores; Madeira.

Climate in Portugal varies from region to region influenced by landscape, ocean proximity, latitude, etc. In the areas close to the border with Spain, winters are usually cold although temperatures are higher than in most European countries. Inland Portugal has also dry and hot summers while on the coastline temperatures are softened by the ocean's air. In The Azores, climate is very pleasant all year round. With subtropical influence, the island of Madeira has an exceptionally warm climate. Temperatures vary around the 24ºC (75ºF) in the summer and 19ºC (66ºF) during the winter. Water temperature is also pleasant all year round.

Spain

Spain is situated in western Europe. Spain borders with France and Andorra in the north and with Portugal in the west. The Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza) in the Mediterranean Sea, the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean, Ceuta and Melilla in northern Africa, are also Spanish territory. Spain is the 3rd country of Europe in extension. The country's autonomous regions all have a strong character and are in many ways unique: Andalusia; Aragon; Asturias; Balearic Islands; Canary Islands; Cantabria; Castile-La Mancha; Castile-Leon; Catalonia; A.C. Ceuta; A.C. Valencia; Extremadura; Galicia; A.C. Madrid; A.C. Melilla; Murcia; A.C. Navarre; Basque Country; La Rioja.

Spain is one of the warmest countries in Europe. It's predominant climate is Mediterranean temperate, with dry summers and pleasant temperatures during the winter. The main characteristic of Spanish climate is its variety due to the country's geographical diversity. In the northern Cantabrian coast summers are gentle and temperatures rarely go over 25ºC (77ºF). In the higher areas snow is frequent from the beginning of winter to the end of spring. In the Canary Islands, situated  in front of the African coastline enjoy from a mild climate with warm temperatures, the average temperature on the coast being 22ºC (71ºF), without a major difference in weather between daytime and night time.
